Head north through Inverness, turn right onto the Black Isle and keep going till you reach the end of the road. Welcome to Cromarty, the place I call home. Land, sea and big big skies. And industry. Rigs float past and ships berth across the water. Sometimes they make this deep hum that becomes part of your life for a few hours and then it’s gone and we’re back to the quiet familiar murmurings of the land and the sea. I like the noise; it reminds me how lovely the quietness is.
